easy Ways to Get Rid of Roaches

I can't think of a more disgusting bug in my home than roaches.  It seems that they can administrate to invade every crack and crevice of a home and show up at the least startling and worst times.  But I've got a few tips that will show you how to get rid of roaches in your home now and keep them away for good.

1.  Find out where they are coming from.  You will need to check at night since roaches hide during the day.  If you don't see any nearby the house with your flashlight, look in cupboards and your pantry for droppings that they may have left behind (these are small brown stains or pellets).  You will need to find the paths that they are using to enter your home and seal these openings.  This is rarely easy, so you may have to take a bit of time to outline this out by seeing at all cracks and holes in your home.  Roaches normally enter your home through drains and vents, so you will not be able to seal your whole home.

2.  Kill the roaches!  I don't know about you, but every time I find a roach in my home and kill it, I get such a feeling of relief.  Here are a few ways you can try:

  • Make "roach food".  Get one part powdered (not granular) boric acid (sometimes this is sold as roach killing powder but you will also find it in pharmacies since it is used to make anti-pinkeye eyewash), one part white flour, one part granulated sugar.  The sugar entices the roaches, the flour makes it stick, and the boric acid kills them.  Place stations of this roach food in the backs of cabinets and drawers, under the refrigerator and stove, and everywhere else you intuit these sneaky little critters are getting into.

This process will take about three cycles with each cycle continuing two weeks.  Boric acid is not extremely toxic but make sure only roaches and bugs gain way to it.  In humid climates, it's best to use paper or foil trays for the roach food.
  • Use insecticide spray.  Get a spray designated for killing roaches and spray along walls, cracks, and vents.  Remember to consequent all security precautions!
  • Use cockroach bait.  Roach bait either comes in a childproof case or is applied as a gel that contains inspiring roach food and a slow-working lethal poison.  Roaches will eat the bait and take it back to their nests, essentially killing all of the other roaches.  Place this bait everywhere that you expect roaches to be entering your home.
  • Use roach traps.  The cockroach traps lure roaches in and then trap them in an adhesive.  Place these traps wherever you intuit roaches are frequenting your home.
  • Use water jars.  This is probably the least costly way to trap roaches.  Just fill a jar with water and set wherever roaches frequent your home.  The will be able to  get into the jar but not escape.  If you don't live in a dry climate, you can add coffee grounds in the water.
  • Apply a liquid concentrate.  These concentrates are not available to the public and are not exclusive to expert exterminators.  You will dilute the poison integrate in water and spray, wipe, or mop onto any surface.  You should be protected from re-infestation for one to two weeks.
  • Get expert quality pesticides.  These products can be found on the Internet and will be productive for up to three months.  Spray nearby the perimeter of your home and in places such as your basement.  Keep in mind that these pesticides will kill all bugs, along with those that eat roaches.  But expert pesticides will be your best bet if you have a lot of roaches.

3. Use soap and water.  This is a very low cost yet productive way to get rid of roaches in your home by suffocation.  naturally mix soap (even bath soap) and water and splash the roach with the solution.  Make sure to cover its head and abdomen thoroughly.  Since roaches breathe through their skin, it will effectively suffocate them in about one minute.  Be sure to throw them out immediately to ensure they will not revive if the water happens to dry up.

4.  forestall re-infestation.  Keep the kitchen clean, put food away, empty the trash regularly, fix faucets that are dripping or leaking, put naphthalene balls in corners (roaches hate the smell), normally pour bleach down the drains, move logs or other debris away from your house, and seal cracks on the surface and interior of your home.

5.  Call a professional.  If you find that using these methods are not fully ridding your home of roaches, you need to call a expert exterminating team that can get to the root of the qoute and eradicate your home of these disgusting bugs.  Make sure to call a business that will keep your home and house safe in the exterminating process.
